The President of the Radio Television Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) of Nigeria, Comrade Prince Emeka Kalu (Magic Fingers), has extended warm felicitations to Radio Nigeria on the occasion of its 75th Anniversary, marking a remarkable journey from 1951 to 2026.
In a goodwill message to commemorate this milestone, President Kalu describes the anniversary as a testament to Radio Nigeria’s enduring role as a pillar of information dissemination, cultural preservation, and national development. He noted that since its establishment, Radio Nigeria has remained steadfast in promoting unity, educating citizens, and amplifying the diverse voices that shape Nigeria’s identity.

Comrade Kalu praised the resilience and professionalism of the Management and Staff over the decades, emphasizing that Radio Nigeria has weathered numerous socio-political and technological transitions while maintaining its relevance in the ever-evolving media landscape.
He highlighted the organization’s contribution to deepening democracy, fostering national cohesion, and preserving Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage through quality programming.
As the anniversary celebrations commence today, April 1st, President Kalu conveys the union’s goodwill to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for his administration’s continued support for the media industry. He also extended his regards to the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, for his leadership in strengthening the nation’s information architecture.
Furthermore, he saluted the Director-General and the entire staff of Radio Nigeria; many of whom are proud members of RATTAWU, for their dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to excellence. He assured the Director-General of the unwavering goodwill, solidarity, and support of RATTAWU, describing the Union as the largest body of media and cultural workers in Africa.
President Kalu reaffirmed RATTAWU’s commitment to collaborating with Radio Nigeria in advancing the welfare of workers, promoting professional standards, and sustaining the growth of the Media and Cultural sector in Nigeria.
