Rev. Simon Onwubiko, the Abia State Commander of Man O’ War Nigeria, has joined millions of Christians across Nigeria and beyond to mourn the passing of the revered evangelist, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai. Describing his death as “the transition of a saint and a general in God’s army,” Rev. Onwubiko said that Rev. Ukpai’s earthly departure marks the end of an era but also the beginning of a glorious legacy that will continue to inspire generations.
In a heartfelt tribute, Rev. Onwubiko praised Rev. Uma Ukpai’s unwavering commitment to evangelism, faith healing, and the spiritual transformation of lives across Africa. According to him, “Rev. Uma Ukpai was not just a preacher; he was a divine instrument through whom God reached countless souls. His humility, depth of faith, and consistency in service to God remain a model for all ministers.”

Rev. Onwubiko recalled how Rev. Ukpai’s crusades brought revival to cities and villages across Nigeria, rekindling faith in the hearts of believers and uniting Christians under the banner of Christ. “He lived a life wholly devoted to the Gospel. Even in his old age, he never relented in preaching Christ with passion and simplicity,” he said.
He further prayed that God would comfort the family of the late evangelist, the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, and the entire Christian community, urging believers to uphold the values of faith, holiness, and service that Rev. Ukpai exemplified throughout his life.
“Though Rev. Uma Ukpai has finished his course, his voice will continue to echo through the hearts of all who encountered his ministry. A saint has gone home to rest, but his legacy will never fade,” Rev. Onwubiko concluded.
