Akali-Baba Officially Hands Over To Acting IGP, Egbetokun

Newly appointed acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, has assumed office at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. This was after the immediate past IGP, Usman Baba, officially handed over to Egbetokun at about 12 noon. President Bola Tinubu appointed Egbetokun as the new acting IGP alongside the Service Chiefs on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Vice President Kashim Shettima decorated him at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Shortly after his decoration, the acting IGP declared war on all criminals and enemies of Nigeria. Egbetokun said he felt like a Tiger and Lion ready to chase all criminals and Nigeria’s enemies.

Your stay in office illegal – Court sacks IGP Usman Alkali Baba

A Federal High Court sitting in Awka, has declared that the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, is an illegal occupant of the office he is currently holding. Justice Fatun Riman, who gave the order, insisted that Baba’s continued stay in office is against the clear provisions of the Police Act, 2020, saying it is “unlawful and unconstitutional”. The court made the order in its judgment in a suit marked FHC/AKW/CS/58/2023, filed by Okechukwu Nwafor, a taxpayer.
