Four Catholic reverends freed by kidnappers

Four Catholic reverends abducted Sunday along Okigwe-Umulolo Road in the Okigwe Local Government Area IMO state have been released. The Reverend Sisters are members of the Sisters of Jesus El Salvador Generelate, a religious group of the Catholic Church in Port Harcourt, capital of the Rivers, south-south of Nigeria. They were identified as Johannes Nwodo, Christabel Echemazu, Liberata Mbamalu and Benita Agu. They were attacked and kidnapped while on their way to attend a thanksgiving service for another Reverend Sister in the area. NRC cancels resumption of Abuja-Kaduna train service

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has suspended the resumption of train services on the Abuja-Kaduna Train route. NRC stopped operations on the route, following an attack on a train by bandits. Eight passengers died during the attack, while many were kidnapped. SEDI chief Samuel Ndubisi assassinated in Enugu

The Director-General, Science and Equipment Development Institute, Prof. Samuel Ndubisi, has been assassinated in Enugu by unidentified gunmen. This is coming barely 48 hours after the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AutoEase Service Limited, Ifeanyi Okeke was also assassinated by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in the presence of his eight-year-old son. It was gathered that the SEDI DG was shot dead along with his police orderly on the Port- Harcourt Express Road Enugu around 4 pm while he was reportedly going home. The State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, was said to have visited the scene of the incident.
