Fire guts five-storey building in Balogun Market, Lagos

Fire on Tuesday gutted a section of a five-storey In Balogun Market, Lagos building. The fire which started in the early hours of Tuesday led to the loss of properties worth millions of naira. Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service in a statement signed by the Director Adeseye Margaret said the fire was under control. The statement said, “Fire at Balogun under control. “The fire is however under control as mitigation is on to limit its spread update to follow as the situation unfolds.”

Unknown gunmen attack checkpoint, kill two policemen in Enugu

Unknown gunmen resumed their attacks on security checkpoints in Enugu State on Sunday, reportedly killing two policemen. The gunmen launched the attack at a police checkpoint close to the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, UNEC. A source hinted that the policemen, who were on stop and search, were caught unawares. A video currently trending on social media shows two of the officers lying in a pool of their blood. The Enugu State Police Command is yet to issue any statement on the incident. More to come…

Gunmen kill 6 persons in Rivers community

Gunmen have killed 6 persons in Odiokwu community in Ahaoda West Local Government Area of Rivers State. An eyewitness said that the attack was carried out around 11am on Sunday (today), at a sit-out in the community. The eyewitness said a resident who was preparing to go to church was also gunned down. The source, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, expressed worry that 27 persons have died in Ekpeye kingdom in different attacks in the month of March.
