The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recently disclosed a list of 58 former governors who are suspected to have been involved in corrupt activities, such as embezzlement, misappropriation, or laundering, over a period of 25 years. The total amount of money involved is approximately N2.187 trillion, not including properties seized worldwide or those currently under investigation, which amount to billions of Naira. The amount of N2.2 trillion that was stolen is equivalent to the combined budgets of Lagos State and the South-East states for 2024, which total N2.25 trillion and N2.29 trillion, respectively.
