Chuks Ibegbu, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has insisted that Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu and Governor Yayaya Bello should forget their 2023 presidential ambition. He called on those he suspected to be aspiring to run in the election to support the campaign for an Igbo president in 2023 so as to rebuild Nigeria and beyond. Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has mocked Nigerians after the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) directed all broadcast stations in the country to deactivate their Twitter accounts on Monday The agency directed television and radio stations to de-install twitter handles and stop using it as a user-generated content (UGC) for news and programmes presentation, especially phone-in. According to NBC, it will be unpatriotic for any broadcaster in Nigeria to continue to patronise the suspended Twitter. Some unknown gunmen have caused a stampede among members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Amakohia in Owerri, the Imo State capital, during Mass celebration. The gunmen were matching on the street of Amakohia/Orlu road in their numbers, wearing black attires and masks. According to our state correspondent, they were matching freely and shooting sporadically in the air to scare people away including the police and army. Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari, has declared that Gimba Yau Kumo, the fugitive former Managing Director, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) wanted by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) over an alleged $65m fraud is no longer his son-in-law. The ICPC has since began a manhunt for Kumo over alleged fraud, committed with two others, while he was managing FMBN. Imo state governor Senator Hope Uzodinma on Wednesday sacked 20 out of his 28 Commissioners. The sacking of the 20 Commissioners came bearing one month after the governor appointed new Commissioners for Finance and Health. The eight Commissioners not affected include Health, Youth and Sports, Tourism, Information and Strategy, Woman Affairs, Works, Finance and Technology. The governor had two weeks ago alleged that some of his appointees were moles sabotaging his administration.
