Three of the military personnel in Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have been reported dead as a result of a brutal armed herdsmen attack on villages in Benue State's Agatu Local Government Area (LGA). Attacks on Plateau communities on Christmas Eve resulted in 26 deaths and numerous injuries.

According to reports, bandits attacked several towns on Christmas Eve in the Plateau State local government areas of Barkin Ladi and Bokkos, killing over 26 people. It was learned that while 15 people died in a further attack on villages in Barkin Ladi LGA, 11 people perished in Bokkos LGA. Police officer reportedly kills self after killing his colleague

Inspector Nelson Abuante, a police officer with the Rivers State Police Command, is said to have shot and killed his colleague Monday Gbaramana. Abuante then took his own life. Following a report from the suspect's mother, the two officers, who were assigned to the Taabaa Division of the Command, went to arrest a man on Sunday at Nyogor-Lueku, in the Khana Local Government Area of the state.
