Gunmen kill Imo ruler, three others, police launch investigation

The police command in Imo has called for calm following the alleged killing of Ignatius Asor, the ruler of the Ubudi Agwa community, Oguta local government area, and three others by gunmen. This is contained in a statement by the command’s spokesman, Mike Abatam, on Tuesday in Owerri. The police on Saturday said five people were killed in a clash between soldiers and some suspected gunmen in Isuofia community in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen attacked the military checkpoint located at the Afor-Uzo Junction in Isuofia on Saturday. Some unknown gunmen have caused a stampede among members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Amakohia in Owerri, the Imo State capital, during Mass celebration.
