Gunmen kill Imo ruler, three others, police launch investigation

The police command in Imo has called for calm following the alleged killing of Ignatius Asor, the ruler of the Ubudi Agwa community, Oguta local government area, and three others by gunmen. This is contained in a statement by the command’s spokesman, Mike Abatam, on Tuesday in Owerri. On Monday, gunmen invaded the Obudi Agwa community and killed four persons, including Mr Asor. “Preliminary investigation reveals that hoodlums came in four vehicles and two motorcycles in the company of a woman. Gunmen attack Anambra military checkpoint, five killed

The police on Saturday said five people were killed in a clash between soldiers and some suspected gunmen in Isuofia community in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen attacked the military checkpoint located at the Afor-Uzo Junction in Isuofia on Saturday. Eyewitness account, however, noted that two soldiers and four of the gunmen were killed during the bloody encounter. Isuofia is the hometown of the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo. Soludo announces arrest of Gunmen who attacked, killed Ifeanyi Ubah’s aides

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has revealed that some of the gunmen who participated in an assassination attempt on Senator Ifeanyi Ubah have been arrested. Churchgoers, others flee as gunmen parade Owerri streets

Some unknown gunmen have caused a stampede among members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Amakohia in Owerri, the Imo State capital, during Mass celebration. The gunmen were matching on the street of Amakohia/Orlu road in their numbers, wearing black attires and masks.
