According to the Defence Headquarters, troops were able to free the teachers and students who had been kidnapped from LEA School Kuriga in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna, Zamfara State, on Sunday. About 287 pupils as well as instructors were kidnapped by alleged terrorists on March 7, 2024, and taken into the bush. Zamfara Police vows to put an end to insurgency within next three months.

Kolo Yusuf, the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, has promised to put a stop to the insurgency in the region in three months. Kolo made this commitment during a meeting on Thursday with a range of stakeholders, including journalists, civil society organizations, religious leaders, and organized labor unions, .
