The youth of Uganda are taking a bold stance, challenging the status quo and demanding change in their country. Despite attempts by the military and police to block their rally in Mubende, the young people stood firm and overcame efforts to silence them.
This display of determination and resilience has been met with enthusiasm, especially in districts like Kassanda and Mubende. The youth are advocating for a new Uganda—one where their voices are heard and their rights are respected. The hashtag #ProtestVote2026 is gaining traction, symbolizing the movement’s focus on electoral change and reform.

Key Issues Driving the Movement:
– Youth Unemployment: Uganda faces significant challenges in job creation, with 41% of youth not engaged in employment, education, or training.
– Limited Access to Education: Only 25% of secondary school-aged youth attend school, highlighting the need for increased access to quality education.
– Empowerment Initiatives: Programs like the Life Skills toolkit and Upshift aim to equip young people with the skills and confidence necessary to participate in the workforce and society.
As Uganda’s population continues to grow, with 78% of citizens under the age of 30, the youth are positioned to shape the country’s future. The question remains: will their voices be heard, and will change come? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain—the youth of Uganda are no longer silent. #AnewUgandaNow
