Former member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole, has continued his engagements across communities in Ohafia and parts of Abia North, with a series of visits and meetings that brought together traditional rulers, community leaders, youths and women groups.
At Iriji Akanu Ohafia, Nkole recalled the Ohafia Water Rehabilitation Scheme, which he facilitated while in office.
Accordingly, the project was completed and formally handed over to the community and the Abia State Government on December 25, 2022, through the Federal Ministry of Water Resources. He noted that pipe-borne water was already being reticulated to private homes before he left office.
Nkole expressed concern that the facility has since been abandoned, while members of the community recalled the intervention and its impact with nostalgia.
His engagements also took him to the maiden August Meeting of Nzuko Inyom Amaekpu Ohafia, where he joined members of the women’s group for the gathering.
In another community engagement, Nkole paid a condolence visit to Kachi, the youth leader of Ndi Uduma Awoke, following the death of his mother. He also paid a courtesy call on the Ezie Ogo of Uduma Awoke and visited the President General Emeritus and his former campaign Director-General, Chief Dr. Don Emeri, who is recovering from an ailment.
The visit brought together youth leaders from across the Ohafia clan.
Hon. Nkole also attended the executive meeting of Village Boys, Ohafia Chapter, at Ikenga Plaza, Ebem Ohafia, further reinforcing his engagement with community-based groups.
Beyond Ohafia, he paid a private visit to Chief Uchenna Okagbue, a leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), at his hometown, Uzuakoli, where he interfaced with Rev. Dr. O. O. Obioha.
The series of engagements reiterates Nkole’s continued interaction with community stakeholders as he reconnects with people and groups across the political and traditional landscape of Abia North.
His engagements came against the backdrop of preparations for the 2027 political season, with Nkole seeking to return to the National Assembly to represent Abia North Senatorial District and support Mr Peter Obi presidency in 2027.
The visits have provided an opportunity for renewed conversations around past interventions, community development, leadership and the expectations of constituents ahead of the next electoral cycle.
