The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu, has called on the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) to rise to the challenge of building a better society. This charge was made during a courtesy visit by the state chapter of OYC to the Deputy Governor’s office.
Chief Emetu expressed his appreciation for the OYC’s initiative and readiness to work with the state government, led by Dr. Alex Otti. He emphasized the importance of shunning corruption and working collectively to achieve progress in the state. The Deputy Governor also acknowledged the crucial role of the youth in shaping the present and future of Abia State.

The OYC state chairman, Comrade Eugene Okonta, presented the newly elected members to the Deputy Governor and outlined their 2025 agenda. The agenda includes creating a solid structure for the organization in the state, hosting the 2025 Abia Youth Summit, and partnering with the state government to uphold the socio-cultural values of the Igbo nation.
Comrade Authority Ukpabi, National Publicity Secretary and special adviser to the Deputy Governor on media, highlighted the significance of OYC as the apex socio-cultural organization of Igbo youth. He commended Chief Emetu’s leadership style and assured him of OYC’s unwavering support in promoting the state’s interests.
The meeting marked a significant step towards fostering collaboration between the state government and the Ohanaeze Youth Council, with the potential to drive progress and development in Abia State.
