Chinedu Onyeizu recently paid a courtesy visit to Engineer Ikechukwu Monday (MNSE, FNSE), the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities in Abia State, in a meeting that clearly underscored the transformative vision of Alex Otti (H.E.) in reshaping the state’s power sector.
The visit was not just ceremonial, but a deliberate effort to further highlight the strength and effectiveness of Governor Alex Otti’s policies aimed at expanding electricity access to every nook and cranny of Abia State. It reinforced the administration’s commitment to ensuring that no community is left behind in the ongoing power reforms.
Central to the discussions was the drive for grid independence, a bold initiative of the Otti-led government focused on reducing reliance on the national grid by developing alternative and independent power sources. This approach is expected to provide more stable and reliable electricity, especially for businesses and households across the state.

They also examined the implementation of the Abia State Electricity Law 2025, a landmark reform designed to establish a functional state electricity market, attract private sector participation, and improve efficiency in power generation and distribution.
Infrastructure improvement featured prominently, including the upgrading of transformer distribution across communities and the rehabilitation of water schemes, all of which align with the Governor’s broader agenda of strengthening critical public utilities.
Another major highlight was the planned acquisition of a 125-megawatt gas turbine from the Netherlands, a strategic move to significantly boost the state’s power generation capacity and support industrial and economic growth.
Chinedu Onyeizu commended Governor Alex Otti for his visionary and result-oriented leadership, noting that these initiatives are clear indicators of a government determined to deliver real change. He also praised the Commissioner for effectively translating the Governor’s policies into actionable projects.
In response, Engr. Ikechukwu Monday appreciated the visit and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to sustaining these reforms and ensuring that the benefits of improved power supply are felt across all parts of Abia State.
The meeting ended on a positive and hopeful note, with a shared confidence that Abia is on a steady path toward reliable electricity, inclusive development, and economic prosperity under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti.
