This is Ovom – Aguwa Streets, down to Pepples Road Corridor. A stretch of neighbourhood, surrendered to ravaging gully erosion by the immediate past administration just less than 28 months ago.

The same actors and funny characters who while in Government with access to public funds, abandoned Abians living around the neighbourhood to their fate, in the heart of Enyimba City, very close to the famous ABA-GI (Girl’s High School, Aba), ceding that space of Abia Territory to Erosion just like they ceded Umunneochi and part of Isiukwuato LGA to criminals,

Now, good governance advocates, lovers of Abia and Abians, and born again apostles of transparency and accountability – Virtues very rare and scarce when they controlled public resources but in abundance on social media spaces after they lost access to public funds.

To these funny characters who participated in the looting spree of our common patrimony, Ndi Abia are retarded with hazy memories and must have forgotten the rot, ruins, pains and havoc they caused here.

To the former landlords of Abia Government House, Ndi Abia have forgotten how they unleashed touts and non-state actors on them to harrase and extort multiple taxes which ended up in private pockets as compensation to cronies and allies.

Now, they love Abia more than ordinary Abians.

Funny Characters that saw no basis to compare Abia State with Ebonyi State just 28 months ago because Ebonyi was miles apart in terms of tangible and visible development even when Abia had access to more funds from the Monthly Federal Allocation, 13% Derivation, No of Local Government and IGR but now uses Enugu, the former capital of Eastern Region and Lagos State to measure the successes of Abia State inadvertently showing that we are no longer where we used to be.

For a character who as the State’s Exchequer was more on radio giving reasons why salaries and pensions were not paid and defending months/years of arrears of workers salaries and retirees pensions under his watch to be demanding for another increment of minimum wage by Abia State Government above the National benchmark just less than one year of the last raise, means that the State is no longer talking about arrears and has been paying the National minimum wage benchmark as at when due.

By the way, I was at Owerrinta last week. The State is currently harvesting rice from the Owerrinta rice field to the disappointment of Nwoke Pro bono who was spreading falsehood about the existence of rice farm in his backyard. He has mastered the arts of lying with statistics and voodoo numbers even when our people stopped taking him seriously after witnessing the worst of him as Commissioner for Finance during the darkest years of the State.
