Nigeria is a country of over 200 million people with a land Mass of about 923,768 square kilometres and the largest in population in Africa.
The story of this great nation and its independence from the colonial masters was a reality through the sacrifices of our nationalist movement led by Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello among others.

Nigeria, like many nations that have shed the legacy of colonialism, faced significant challenges in achieving growth and development.
Therefore, we must be reminded that our progress as a nation came with its attendant complications from the various military interventions which disrupted the natural flow of democratic processes, hence, the snail movement which is being experienced in our journey towards progress and prosperity of our dear nation.
The concept of growth must therefore be understood on the basis of political evolution, economic reality and cultural influence.
Consequently , challenges like banditry, terrorism, insecurity, religious intolerance, nepotism etc which have pushed the Country to a new height of uncertainty destroying the gains achieved over the years in Nigeria, must be fought to reclaim our path towards greatness.
Our Country cannot afford to leave in dispondency but chart a course to celebrate ourselves , our independence and our Nation.
We must, despite our problems celebrate as a nation the attainment of self governance, promotion of our sovereignty, fostering of National identity, gradual economic growth, cultural expressions and living as a united Nigeria blessed by God.
Therefore as Nigeria celebrates the 65th independence anniversary, the President of the Largest Media and Cultural Workers Union in Nigeria ; the Radio Television Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) of Nigeria; Comrade Prince Emeka Kalu (Magic Fingers), shares with the Government and good people of the Country the Joy of a happy remembrance.
President Kalu urges citizens and members of the Union to rekindle hope in the oneness and greatness of Nigeria.
He reminded citizens of their sacred responsibilities of holding the Government accountable at all levels, demanding progress, good governance, transparency and prudent use of the country’s patrimony.
Nigeria must remain indivisible, for it’s in our Unity that we draw our strength.
Comrade Izang Francis Atsen
National Publicity Secretary
RATTAWU Nigeria
