The Abia North Youth Agenda (ANYA) has issued a stern warning to political actors ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the era of entitlement politics and recycled leadership in Abia North is coming to an end.
In a strongly worded statement signed by its Convener, Hon. Udoeze Kalu, the youth pressure group made it clear that it will not be part of premature political calculations or sentimental endorsements, insisting that only candidates with proven competence, integrity, and capacity to deliver will earn its support.

ANYA stated unequivocally that its mandate is to protect the political future and development interests of Abia North, stressing that 2027 will not be business as usual.
“We are not interested in who feels entitled to power or who has occupied office before. What matters is capacity, credibility, and the ability to deliver measurable development to our people,” the statement declared.
The group warned that political experience without impact would no longer be rewarded, noting that Abia North can no longer afford leadership experiments or recycled ambitions that offer no clear vision.
According to Hon. Kalu, ANYA will soon commence a rigorous, issue-based process to screen, assess, and adopt candidates for the Abia North Senatorial seat and other elective positions, drawing from both serving office holders and fresh aspirants.
“Serving office is not a qualification, and being new is not a disadvantage. Performance, vision, and character will determine who earns our backing,” he said.
ANYA further emphasized that youths in Abia North are no longer passive observers in the political process, describing them as organized, politically enlightened, and ready to mobilize against candidates who cannot convincingly articulate solutions to the zone’s long-standing challenges.
The group cautioned political actors against assuming automatic youth support, stressing that slogans, propaganda, and token gestures will not sway the new generation of voters.
“The days of using youths as mere tools during elections are over. Abia North youths will no longer trade their future for empty promises,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its commitment to equity and fairness, ANYA disclosed plans to engage traditional institutions, professionals, civil society organizations, and grassroots stakeholders to ensure that its endorsements reflect the collective will of the people rather than elite interests.
The group concluded by challenging all aspirants eyeing 2027 to step forward with concrete policy plans and a verifiable record of service, warning that those without substance would be exposed and rejected by the electorate.
“Abia North deserves leadership that delivers, not leadership that explains failure. In 2027, competence will defeat sentiment,” the statement declared.
