The President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) of Nigeria warmly welcomed representatives from UNI-Africa at the Union’s National Secretariat. This meeting underscored the strong partnership and active participation of RATTAWU as an affiliate of UNI-Africa, highlighting the union’s ongoing commitment to UNI-Africa’s programs and activities.
The visit, led by UNI-Africa’s newly elected Women President, Comrade Pauline Sawadogo, and the regional Women Coordinator, Comrade Leocadie Bodjouo, was a recognition of RATTAWU’s dedication and outstanding participation in UNI-Africa’s initiatives.


During the engagement, the UNI-Africa representatives officially announced plans to host the inaugural UNI-Media, Entertainment, and Arts International (UNI-MEI) Conference in Nigeria. This landmark event is designed to foster dialogue, cooperation, and development within Africa’s media and creative industries.
RATTAWU President, Comrade Prince Emeka Kalu (Magic Fingers), expressed profound appreciation to UNI-Africa for selecting Nigeria as the host country for this historic conference. He viewed the decision as a testament to Nigeria’s strong labour movement and to the Union’s commitment to advancing professional excellence and improving the welfare of workers in the media and entertainment sectors.
Comrade Kalu assured the UNI-Africa representatives of RATTAWU’s full support and readiness to collaborate in ensuring the successful hosting of the conference.


Following the meeting, the UNI-Africa delegation, together with RATTAWU leadership, paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, to inform him of the upcoming conference and to request the support of the Congress. The visit underscored the significance of collaboration within the labour movement and the strategic importance of the conference for workers and stakeholders both within Nigeria and beyond.
The NLC President, Comrade Ajaero, expressed the Congress’s commitment to supporting the conference, recognizing how RATTAWU, under President Kalu’s leadership, has successfully elevated the visibility of the Union and transformed its narrative.
The event at the RATTAWU Secretariat was further honored by the presence of HRH Eze (Engr) Ndukwe and Ugoeze Debby Iko, Nnaka IV of Okon-Aku, Ohafia Local Government Area, Abia State.
