Umuahia, the Abia State capital, witnessed a massive political mobilization on Saturday, March 14, 2026, as Bishop Prof. Emeka Nwankpa, one of the frontline leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state, and the 2023 governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Abia State, led thousands of supporters and political associates in a high-energy awareness walk along the ever-busy Aba Road.
The colourful procession, which drew enthusiastic crowds from different parts of the state, effectively ‘locked down’ major sections of Aba Road as party faithful marched in solidarity, chanting songs of unity and political renewal.

Bishop Prof. Nwankpa, known for his strong grassroots influence, mobilized a wide network of supporters and allied groups to participate in the event. Prominent among the groups were the Bishop Nwankpa Grassroots Movement, the Bishop Emeka Nwankpa Foundation, and the South East Mandate for Good Governance, all of which have fully aligned with him in his political movement to the ADC.
The awareness walk, which was organized by the youth wing of the party attracted several national and regional party leaders. Among those in attendance were the National Youth Leader of the African Democratic Congress, as well as the Deputy National Youth Leaders representing the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones.

Also present were key state party officials including Kalu Okoronkwo Kalu, the Acting State Chairman of the party, and Don Norman Obinna, the factional State Chairman, alongside other prominent stakeholders and loyal party members.
The atmosphere throughout the event was vibrant and peaceful, with participants carrying banners, waving party flags and interacting with residents and traders along the route, while spreading the message of political participation and grassroots engagement.
In his remarks at the event, Bishop Prof. Emeka Nwankpa called on party members and supporters to embrace peace, unity and selfless service as guiding principles for building a strong and credible political platform. He emphasized that the future of the party in Abia State depends on collective commitment and disciplined teamwork, urging members to place the interest of the people above personal ambitions.
According to him, his active involvement in building the party is not merely about political ambition, but about creating a platform that will promote good governance, accountability and sustainable development for the people of Nigeria.
Bishop Prof. Nwankpa further encouraged young people to take an active role in shaping the political future of the country, describing the youth as the driving force of any meaningful democratic transformation.
The awareness walk ended amid renewed enthusiasm among party faithful, many of whom expressed optimism that the growing grassroots mobilization would strengthen the presence of the African Democratic Congress across Abia State ahead of future political engagements.
Observers noted that the massive turnout and the orderly conduct of participants underscored Bishop Prof. Nwankpa’s expanding grassroots appeal and the increasing momentum of the ADC in the state.
