The Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal filed by Julius Abure, delivering a significant judgment in the ongoing leadership crisis within the Labour Party Nigeria.

In its ruling, the appellate court held that the appeal lacked merit and proceeded to affirm the decision of the lower court. The judgment reinforces earlier findings of the Nasarawa State High Court, which had been challenged by Abure.
The Court of Appeal further clarified that the constitution of an interim committee within the party remains an internal affair, beyond the scope of judicial interference in the manner presented. It emphasized that the original suit before the lower court was directed against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), rather than being purely an internal party dispute.
In a strong rebuke, the appellate court reportedly criticized the Nasarawa High Court judge who issued an interim order affecting Nenadi Usman, describing the action as reckless and made without proper jurisdiction.
The court also awarded costs of ₦10 million against Abure, further underscoring its position on the matter.
This ruling marks a major turning point in the prolonged internal crisis rocking the Labour Party, which has been characterized by factional divisions and legal battles over leadership and control of party structures.
Political observers believe the judgment could have far-reaching implications for the stability and future direction of the party ahead of upcoming political engagements.
