Engr. Chinedu Onyeizu, the Labour Party’s senatorial candidate for Abia South in the 2023 general election, has officially broken his silence on his political future, declaring his intention to recontest for the Senate seat in 2027.
Speaking during what could be described as an ambush by newsmen on Wednesday, the globally-respected petroleum engineer stated that his decision is driven by a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to the people of Abia South. According to him, the experiences and insights gained from the last electoral cycle have further strengthened his resolve to offer purposeful and people-oriented representation.

Onyeizu emphasized that his ambition is anchored on the urgent need for synergy between the legislative arm at the federal level, and the executive arm of government at the state level. He noted that a proactive and visionary senator would play a crucial role in complementing the developmental strides of Alex Otti, ensuring that Abia South fully benefits optimally from reforms and infrastructure renewal. He further assured constituents that his focus remains on economic revitalisation, youth empowerment, and strategic investments that would unlock the vast potential of the region.
With his declaration, the race for Abia South Senatorial seat in 2027 appears to be gradually taking shape, as political stakeholders begin to position themselves ahead of the polls.
