Ahead Of 2027: Karibe Ojigwe, Other Abia NDC National Assembly Candidates Meet Peter Obi In Strategic Session

By Amb. Monyeazor Oluebube Sunday

It was not just a meeting. It was a gathering of minds, of vision, of competence, capacity and character. It was a meeting that signals that a New Nigeria is not just a slogan, but a movement that is taking shape from the grassroots to the presidency.

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives Candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Hon. Pascal Karibe Ojigwe, joined other NDC National Assembly Candidates from Abia extraction in a high-level strategic meeting with the NDC Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi.

The closed-door but warm meeting brought together all Abia NDC National Assembly Candidates — both Senate and House of Representatives flag bearers — to discuss matters of mutual interest, harmonize campaign strategies, and strengthen coordination as the party prepares to take over Nigeria in 2027.

Present at the strategic meeting were Abia’s finest:

  • Hon. Uko Nkole — Abia North Senatorial District
  • Dr. Kasarachi Michael Enyinna — Abia South Senatorial District
  • Hon. Chimaeze Dike Nwafor — Osisioma/Obingwa/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency
  • Hon. Stanley Uche — Ikwuano/Umuahia North & South Federal Constituency
  • Hon. Pascal Karibe Ojigwe — Bende Federal Constituency
  • Hon. Ugorji Chikezie Joseph — Isiala Ngwa North & South Federal Constituency
  • Hon. Uchenna ThankGod Samuel — Aba North & South Federal Constituency
  • Hon. Ifeanyi Elvis Ogbonna — Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency

And hosted by the mother of the party in Abia, the Amazon herself — Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, PhD, CON, who received the candidates at her residence in Abuja and provided leadership and motherly guidance.

A Meeting of Competence, Not Mediocrity

Sources at the meeting described the atmosphere as electric, inspiring and full of hope. Mr. Peter Obi, known for his frugality, competence and deep understanding of Nigeria’s problems, charged the candidates to go back to their constituencies and preach the gospel of New Nigeria — a Nigeria that works for all, not for few.

He reminded them that NDC is not just another party. NDC — Nigerian Democratic Congress — is a coalition of conscience, formed by the alliance of Peter Obi and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, bringing together the Obidient Movement and Kwankwasiyya Movement into one formidable force for national rescue.

“You are not just candidates,” Obi told them. “You are ambassadors of a new Nigeria. Bende must feel new Nigeria. Aba must feel new Nigeria. Abia must feel new Nigeria. Go and show them competence, not mediocrity. Go and show them character, not cash-and-carry politics.”

Karibe Ojigwe: Bende Will Feel New Nigeria

Speaking after the meeting, Hon. Pascal Karibe Ojigwe, the man who rose from Bende to win Golden Eaglets World Cup in 1993, to play Champions League Final in 2002 with Bayer Leverkusen against Real Madrid of Zidane and Ronaldo, and to wear Super Eagles jersey 17 times, said Bende is ready for New Nigeria.

“Bende has heard the message. Bende is tired of old politics of rice and wrapper every four years. Our people want The Bende Standard — quality roads, quality water, quality schools, quality health centres, and everyday representation, not seasonal appearance. Meeting His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi has energized us. We are going back to Bende, to Abia North, to every ward to tell them that time for New Bende begins now, and New Bende is part of New Nigeria,” Karibe said.

Karibe, who was recently confirmed by INEC as the authentic NDC flag bearer for Bende Federal Constituency, has been described by youth groups including Abia North Youth Agenda (ANYA) as the Voice Bende Needs, Not an Echo.

The Bigger Picture: NDC Is Coming Strong in Abia

Political observers in Abuja noted that the Abia NDC team paraded by Senator Nkechi Nwaogu is one of the strongest in the South East — a blend of experienced legislators like Uko Nkole, technocrats like Dr. Kasarachi Enyinna, young vibrant leaders like Karibe Ojigwe, Stanley Uche, and Chimaeze Dike Nwafor.

With Peter Obi as presidential candidate and Kwankwaso as his strong partner, and with grassroots mobilizers like Karibe who connect with youths, women, farmers and football lovers, NDC is positioned to cause a major upset in Abia in 2027.

The strategic meeting ended with a group photograph, prayers for Nigeria, and a renewed commitment that all Abia NDC candidates will work as one family, with one vision: Ndi Abia First, Ndi Bende First, Nigerians First.

Indeed, if Bende must be new, and if Nigeria must be new, the time is now.
