BENDE 2027: PKO Campaign Faults Past Representation Over Roads, Electricity And Election-Time Projects

Amb. Monyeazor Oluebube Sunday, a supporter of Hon. Pascal Karibe Ojigwe’s 2027 House of Representatives bid, has accused past representations of failing to give Bende Federal Constituency sustained attention, pointing to bad roads, poor electricity supply and what he described as last-minute projects ahead of elections.

In a message titled “The Failures of Past Representations – A Respectful Assessment and a New Path,” Sunday questioned why communities across Bende should have to wait until election campaigns gather momentum before seeing increased political visits and project activities.

He cited the Umuahia–Bende road as a major concern, arguing that its condition reflects the gap between political representation in Abuja and the everyday problems confronting residents at home.

Sunday also questioned the long-term value of distributing motorcycles and small cash grants without stronger measures to help beneficiaries build sustainable livelihoods. He argued that empowerment should leave people with a reliable means of earning a living after the initial support has been spent.

His sharpest criticism concerned the timing of projects and welfare interventions. Sunday alleged that road works, rice distribution and visits to communities had become more prominent only a few months before the next general election, after what he described as three and a half years of inadequate attention.

He challenged representatives to explain why roads, electricity, water supply, youth unemployment and the concerns of traders were not receiving the same attention throughout their tenure.

For Sunday, the issue goes beyond the distribution of relief materials. He argued that residents of Igbere, Item, Umuhu, Uzuakoli, Alayi, Nkpa and other parts of Bende need representation that keeps their concerns on the table whether or not an election is approaching.

He also accused past representatives of giving greater attention to party politics in Abuja than to securing development opportunities for Bende.

Sunday said Hon. Pascal Karibe Ojigwe, the NDC candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in 2027, offers an alternative to the pattern he criticised.

Under the campaign slogan “Peace That Produces Prosperity,” Ojigwe’s bid is being presented by his supporters as a call for representation focused on the constituency’s persistent infrastructure and economic challenges.

Sunday urged Bende voters to support Ojigwe and the NDC in 2027, insisting that the constituency should not have to wait for another election cycle before its needs receive attention.

His closing message was direct: “Ka Anyi Dozie Bende. Bende Ga-Adi Nma Ozo” — let us fix Bende; Bende will be good again.
