Chief Chidiebere J. Okoh, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, has voiced strong concerns over the persistent neglect of the Alayi-Item region, which he claims has become virtually impassable due to severe road deterioration.

In a statement issued to the press, Chief Okoh emphasized that the responsibility for infrastructure development lies squarely with the state government, not individual lawmakers. He criticized the expectation that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu—both APC legislators—should undertake the rehabilitation of roads, only for the administration of Governor Alex Otti to claim credit for such efforts.
Chief Okoh argued that Abia State deserves a government that is truly accountable and committed to delivering the dividends of democracy. He maintained that a transition to APC leadership is essential to align Abia with national politics and foster meaningful development.
Concluding his remarks, Chief Okoh issued a rallying call for unity within the APC as the 2027 elections approach. “A house divided against itself cannot stand,” he cautioned, urging party members to set aside differences and work together with a shared vision for the future of Abia State.
