Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, on Saturday inspected the ongoing construction of a new Governor’s Office and Official Residence within the Government House complex in Umuahia, expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the project.
The inspection formed part of the Governor’s routine assessment of critical infrastructure projects being executed by his administration as part of efforts to rebuild and modernise the state’s seat of government.

Upon arrival at the project site, Governor Otti was received by engineers from Craneburg Construction Company, the firm handling the project. He toured the facility and engaged the project team on various aspects of the construction process, seeking assurances that the work aligns with approved designs and technical specifications.
Speaking after the inspection, the Governor commended the contractors for the progress recorded so far and urged them to sustain the momentum to ensure timely delivery of the project.
He noted that the new Governor’s Office and Official Residence are expected to be completed before the end of the year, describing the development as a key component of the broader transformation of the Government House complex.
The project is part of the ongoing rebuilding and upgrading of Government House infrastructure, which the administration says had suffered years of neglect.

Since the commencement of the initiative, several projects have been completed, including the renovation and retrofitting of the Deputy Governor’s Office, the construction of a new Office of the Secretary to the State Government, as well as the remodelling and upgrade of the Michael Okpara Auditorium, the Protocol Building and the Banquet Hall.
Work is also advancing on other strategic facilities within the Government House, including a modern clinic, a new main gate and other supporting infrastructure designed to enhance administrative efficiency and create a more functional working environment.
The latest inspection underscores the Otti administration’s continued emphasis on infrastructure renewal and institutional strengthening across key government facilities in the state.
