“In a bold and emotionally charged declaration that is already stirring political conversations across Abia State, Sir Mark Ugorji has vowed to transform representation in Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, promising to attract impactful projects and end what he described as the neglect of grassroots development in the area.”
“Sir Mark Ugorji, an aspirant for the Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency, has pledged to implement constituency projects locally if elected, while questioning where current lawmaker Obi Aguocha executes such projects, during his declaration speech in Olokoro-Ukwu, Umuahia South LGA.”

Sir Mark Ugorji, an aspirant for the Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency of Abia State, has promised his constituents an effective representation anchored on action integrity, and grassroots development.
Addressing Umuahia South APC stakeholders, over the weekend at his hometown, Olokoro-Ukwu in Umuahia South Local Government Area, Ugorji emphasized his commitment to practical leadership.
“I am a man of little words; I believe in action,” he stated, noting that this was not his first attempt at public office.
He used the medium to congratulate party stakeholders for the peaceful conduct of their congresses, describing the exercise as successful and devoid of acrimony.
“Without fracas or acrimony, executives emerged from ward to federal levels. This success is a product of your collective effort,” he said.
Ugorji highlighted his personal journey as a testament to resilience and divine grace.
“I am the son of a very poor man. My father was a palm wine tapster, but today I stand before you to declare my intention to contest for office. That tells you that my parents raised a strong child,” he said.
He further revealed that his birth marked a turning point in his family’s fortunes.
“My parents waited for six years before I was born, and since then, I have maintained a trajectory of success. I want to bring that same progress to Ikwuano and Umuahia.”
The aspirant urged constituents to carefully assess the pedigree of candidates ahead of the elections.
“When making decisions, consider the story and character of those seeking your mandate,” he advised.
Expressing confidence in his political strength, Ugorji said he was not intimidated by other aspirants.
“I am ready for the primaries, and if given the ticket, the general election will be a walkover,” he declared.
In a moment of humility, he appealed for forgiveness from anyone he may have offended in the past.
“I plead with my elders and brethren to forgive me for any wrongs, knowingly or unknowingly. Let bygones be bygones,” he said.
Describing politics as a contest, Ugorji noted that disagreements were inevitable.
“Power is fought for, not given. Because it is a struggle, offenses may occur, but we must unite for progress,” he added.
He cautioned against abandoning local candidates in favour of outsiders.
“It will be unfortunate if Umuahia South abandons its own son to support an outsider. We must stand together,” he urged.
Ugorji also highlighted his contributions to the growth of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, particularly his collaboration with the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.
“If you mention those in the Deputy Speaker’s kitchen cabinet, I am one of them. I worked tirelessly to build the APC structure in Abia,” he said.
On accountability, he recounted his role in managing resources under the Renewed Hope Partners initiative.
“I handled the affairs transparently. I did not take a grain from the palliatives. Everything was distributed as it came,” he maintained.
Taking a swipe at the incumbent lawmaker,
Obi Aguocha, Ugorji questioned the impact of current representation.
“You can ask Obi Aguocha where constituency projects are being implemented. But I assure you, if elected, we will implement projects here. We will stop going to Bende to receive palliatives,” he declared.
STAKEHOLDERS’ REACTIONS
Reacting, party stakeholder Chief Emmanuel Egwu described Ugorji as “a seasoned politician who knows his onions,” adding that his consultation with constituents was commendable.
“What he has done is right. Every aspirant should engage the people and seek their blessings,” he said, further describing Ugorji as “a round peg in a round hole.”
Egwu also cautioned against repeating past political mistakes.
“My advice is that we’ve made a mistake in the past; I don’t want to call names. We have made mistakes before; we must not repeat them. We should look inwardly and choose who will represent us very well. He advised.
Similarly, Dr. Ndukwe Adindu affirmed Ugorji’s constitutional right to contest, noting that his candidacy would become the collective responsibility of the party if he emerges as the flagbearer.
“He should, however, widen consultations and reach out to more stakeholders,” Adindu added.
