On the 21st March 2026, Ohafia witnessed a moment of pride and promise as dignitaries, traditional rulers, security representatives, and community leaders gathered for the grand opening of Cheryl Grand Hotel and Suites, a landmark investment that reflects vision, enterprise, and confidence in the future of the community.

Leading the occasion was His Excellency, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, Deputy Governor, ably represented by the Mayor of Ohafia Local Government, Chief Eleanya Kalu Ojuu, who described the project as a timely and commendable investment in Ohafia. His message emphasized the value of such developments in strengthening hospitality, stimulating economic activity, and opening new doors of opportunity for the people.

The event also featured an important security presence. The Brigade Commander, 14 Brigade Ohafia, Brigadier General A. M. Dikko, ably represented by Major G. T. Oweifighe (Temple), commended the initiative and urged the proprietor to make security a major priority through vigilance and close cooperation with security agencies. Also represented was the Commander, 14 Brigade Garrison, Lt. Col. A. A. Amgo, through Capt. A. T. Znberu.

In his remarks, the proprietor, Pastor Ikechukwu Ibe, said that although he has made other investments, this project is especially meaningful because it represents his decision to bring development home and invest in his own people. He assured guests of strong security measures and revealed that Cheryl Grand Hotel and Suites is only the beginning, with more investments still to come.

The presence of revered traditional rulers added dignity, honor, and cultural pride to the occasion, giving the event an even deeper sense of significance.

More than the opening of a hotel, this was the unveiling of a bold symbol of progress in Ohafia. Cheryl Grand Hotel and Suites stands as a shining expression of vision, local enterprise, and the enduring power of investing at home.
