The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, met with members of the Ohafia Young Professionals Forum in Abuja on Wednesday 24th September 2025, fostering a strategic dialogue on the development of Ohafia and the State in general.

The gathering convened influential sons and daughters of Ohafia who are excelling in various fields across the nation. The meeting provided a platform for robust interaction with the Deputy Governor, who emphasized the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable development under the leadership of Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti.

Key Government Updates and Commitments:
During the engagement, Deputy Governor Emetu outlined several key initiatives and progress points directly impacting the Ohafia Community:
 

• Restoration of Electricity: In a significant announcement, the Deputy Governor revealed that Governor Otti has approved the immediate release of funds to restore public electricity in Ohafia. The project is slated for completion by December 2025.
   
• Infrastructure Development: The State Government has commenced the construction of critical road networks, including the Asaga to Amuke road and several internal roads within Amaekpu Ohafia, to improve connectivity and stimulate economic activity.
   
• Investment in Social Services: The administration is actively building and equipping modern health Centres and Schools across Ohafia to enhance the quality of healthcare and education for Residents.
   
• Inclusive Governance: The Deputy Governor highlighted that several competent Ohafia indigenes have been appointed to significant positions within the State Government, underscoring the administration’s belief in leveraging local talent.
  The meeting was attended by a cross-section of prominent Ohafia professionals based in Abuja, including Hon. Ibe Okwara, Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency. The Conveners – Elder Barr. Uma Ntima, Chief Chester Uche, and Chief Mrs. Nkechi Jacob expressed their profound gratitude to the Deputy Governor for his accessibility and commitment to direct engagement.
   
  In his closing remarks, Deputy Governor Emetu thanked the Organizers and attendees, pledging to institutionalize such interactive Sessions. He also announced plans to extend this engagement model to Ohafia Communities in other major Cities across Nigeria. He encouraged continued support for the Governor Otti – led Administration, which he stated has ushered in a new era of positive and tangible progress for Abia State and the Ohafia Community.
