Abuja, Nigeria – Chief Chidiebere J. Okoh, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, has expressed deep concern over the escalating security challenges facing Nigeria, urging President Bola Tinubu to reassess the leadership at the Ministry of Interior. Chief Okoh commended President Tinubu for taking strategic steps to combat the multifaceted security issues plaguing Nigeria but emphasized that critical positions such as the Minister of Interior require security professionals with relevant expertise.

Chief Okoh highlighted the increasing security concerns in Nigeria, describing the situation as critical. He argued that the Ministry of Interior, being a sensitive position, should be occupied by security professionals with requisite experience to handle security matters effectively. He insisted that Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo is not fit to occupy the position of Minister of Interior at this point in Nigeria’s history, emphasizing the need for experts to tackle insecurity.

Drawing parallels with the recent overhaul in the Defence Ministry, Chief Okoh stated that similar expertise is required at the Interior Ministry to address security challenges. “The security of Nigeria is sacrosanct and must not be treated with levity, Tunde-Ojo’s time as Minister of Interior is long overdue for review because Nigeria needs experts to tackle insecurity at this point in her natural life,” he said.
