The Supreme Court has upheld the final forfeiture of properties linked to former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, bringing an end to the legal dispute over the assets.
In a unanimous judgment delivered by a five-member panel led by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, the apex court overturned the earlier decision of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, which had ordered a fresh hearing of the forfeiture case.

The Supreme Court set aside the appellate court’s ruling and affirmed the judgment of the Federal High Court in Lagos, which had ordered the final forfeiture of the properties.
The verdict effectively restores the forfeiture order and concludes Emefiele’s legal challenge against the Federal High Court’s decision.
