The House of Representatives member-elect for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa has received his Certificate of Return following his victory at the just concluded National Assembly election. Osonwa, a candidate of the Labour Party (LP), was on February 27, declared as the winner of the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency seat by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He polled 8,946 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chief Dan Okeke of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 6,635 votes. Barring any further extensions, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reached a decision to postpone Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections to March 18, 2023, the postponement was due to the commission’s inability to promptly commence reconfiguration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines utilized during the February 25 presidential election to enable their use in the state elections.
