Court once more rejects Kanu’s request to wear traditional attire while incarcerated

Nnamdi Kanu, the self-declared leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), had asked to wear the Igbo traditional dress, or "isi agu," while in detention, but the Federal High Court in Abuja once more turned him down. Kanu's application was rejected on Thursday by Justice James Omotoso, who found it to be without merit. Ohanaeze offers a $500,000 bounty on Ekpa, accusing him of inciting war in Southeast.

75,436 inmates in prisons, 52,446 awaiting trial – Nigerian Correctional Service

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has disclosed that thousands of inmates in prisons across the country are without trial. Assistant Controller-General, Gimba Dumbulwa made the revelation on Wednesday in Abuja at a conference on decongestion and corrections administration. The official noted that as of May 9, 75,436 inmates are in correctional centres, while 52,446 are awaiting trial inmates.
