The Police Command in Cross River on Saturday paraded 16 suspects arrested for various alleged electoral offences in the Ogoja Local Government Area of the state. Court sentences IGP Usman Baba to 3 months in prison

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday, sentenced the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, to three months in prison for flouting a 2011 court order. The IGP’s committal followed a suit that was filed by a police officer, Patrick Okoli, who was unlawfully and compulsorily retired from the Nigerian Police Force. A woman, Okereke Olufunmilayo, the Manager at a building materials store, has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and killing his employer, Otunba Abayomi Ajayi Smith, the Director of Rolak Hotel Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. Olufunmilayo was said to have perpetrated the act with the aid of her husband, Larry Adebayo Adewumi, and one Adebowale Sanni. The police command in Imo has called for calm following the alleged killing of Ignatius Asor, the ruler of the Ubudi Agwa community, Oguta local government area, and three others by gunmen.
