A bill seeking to amend of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) has passed second reading at the senate. The bill sponsored by him Orji Uzor Kalu, senate chief whip, is seeking to make the law more “effective and more humane”. The bill passed first reading at the upper legislative chamber in July 2020 about a month after he was released from prison. The former governor of Abia state was released from the Kuje Correctional Centre on June 2, 2020. Native Doctor Guns Down Client While Testing Anti-Gun Charm

Enugu state police said they arrested a native doctor in Umuaram, Ikem, a community in the state’s Isi-Uzo local government area, for allegedly shooting dead his client in Eha-Amufu, another community in the council area. The suspect, 23-year-old Emmanuel Odoh, allegedly killed the victim, Onunze Benedict, at a shrine while testing a gunshot protection amulet that the native doctor had prepared for the victim. FCT budget jumps from N329 billion to N607.9 billion in less than 1year

The House of Representatives has passed the budget of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT for the 2022 fiscal year. The N607.9 billion budget was passed on Tuesday after consideration by the Committee on Supply. The new budget of the ministry shows that the budget of the FCT has increased from N329 billion in 2021 to N607.9 billion in 2022. The breakdown of the budget shows that N403.6 billion has been allocated for capital projects. This allocation is more than the entire N329 billion budget of 2021. 12-year-old boy kidnaps 3-year-old girl, demands N150,000 ransom

The operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 12-year-old boy for allegedly kidnapping a three-year-old girl. The father of the girl reported to the police that he got an anonymous call informing him that his daughter had been kidnapped.
