The people of Amafor Nkporo have declared their support for the Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, during their Iri Ji (New Yam) celebration.
The lawmaker, who was invited to the occasion, was represented by Hon. Ukariwe Inyima Uduma, Councillor representing Ebem Ohafia Ward, and Chief Orieji Emele (Ada-Ukwu Eji Aga Mba).
A defining moment of the celebration came when the Councillor for Etiti Ama Nkporo, Hon. Anya Anya Anya, put the question directly to the gathering, asking whether the people of Amafor stood behind Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa. The response was a resounding yes.
In his message to the gathering, Hon. Osonwa expressed appreciation to the people of Amafor for the honour of the invitation and for the goodwill extended to him, describing the New Yam Festival as an occasion for communities to reflect on the harvest and on the bonds that hold them together.
Nkporo has featured consistently in the lawmaker’s work across the constituency, including the modern classroom block completed and furnished at Ukwa Community Primary School, the siting of Ugwu Ufie PHC in Elughu Nkporo as one of six centres in the recent free medical and surgical outreach, the installation of solar streetlights, and the community’s inclusion in his motion on the floor of the House seeking urgent federal intervention on erosion.
The occasion ended with prayers and goodwill messages for the lawmaker.
