SERAP condemns police attack on Peter Obi’s supporters in Ebonyi, cautions Buhari, govs
The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has condemned the police attack on Peter Obi’s followers in Ebonyi. Supporters of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate were tear-gassed by police officers during a peaceful rally in September. The assault followed an alleged directive by Governor Dave Umahi's administration; the state government denied issuing such an order. In a statement on Sunday, SERAP told President Muhammadu Buhari and governors to allow freedom of expression, assembly, and equal participation during campaigns.
