Umuahia, 12th April 2026 – Chief Chidiebere J. Okoh, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, has thrown his weight behind Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu in the party’s 2027 governorship race.
In a statement released today, Chief Okoh commended Kalu’s dedication to strengthening the APC’s presence and stabilizing party structures in Abia State. He emphasized that Kalu’s consistent engagement with party members and grassroots stakeholders has positioned him as a unifying figure whose vision aligns with the aspirations of Abians.
Chief Okoh stated, “Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu has worked tirelessly to ensure the APC in Abia State remains strong, cohesive, and focused on delivering meaningful progress to the people. The endorsement by party members, borne out of genuine consultations, reflects the wishes of the grassroots and is fully in line with the aspirations of the people. The party will stand firmly on this expression of collective support.”
He further urged all stakeholders within the APC to respect internal party mechanisms, due process, and the collective voice of members. “The Constitution of the Great Abia APC must be upheld at all times. Our unity and credibility depend on adherence to democratic principles and fairness in the selection of candidates,” Chief Okoh added.
Chief Okoh’s endorsement signals a growing consensus among party leaders and members in favor of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu as the APC’s standard-bearer for Abia State in 2027.
