The ongoing consultation tour of Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole, an Abia North Senatorial Zone hopeful, has continued to gather momentum, with the former House of Representatives member engaging traditional rulers, women, youths, community leaders and political stakeholders across Bende and other communities.
The consultations, which formed part of his preparations ahead of the 2027 senatorial election, took him to several communities and social gatherings, where he interacted directly with residents and stakeholders on their concerns, expectations and the future of Abia North.

In Bende Local Government Area, Nkole held a breakfast meeting with stakeholders at the residences of Mr. Emeka Philips and Bar. Jonas Udensi before proceeding to Ikwuisi, where he met with grassroots women and youths at Lodu Imenyi.
He also visited the Bende Traditional Rulers Council and their Ugoezes, where he paid respects to the traditional institution and shared his vision with the royal fathers.
The delegation, led by Engr. Uchenna Okagbue, Leader of the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bende LGA, included Mr. Karibe Ojigwe, Mr. Emeka Philips and Bar. Jonas Udensi, who are candidates for Bende Federal, Bende South and Bende North constituencies respectively.
At the palace of HRH Uchendu Okorie, Chairman of the Bende Traditional Rulers Council, Nkole and his team engaged the traditional rulers on the need for inclusive grassroots participation and effective representation.
The consultation also extended to women’s August meetings in Lodu Imenyi and Uzuakoli, where Nkole listened to women and discussed issues affecting their communities.
At Uzuakoli, he was joined by Chief Ndubuisi Etugo Ogah, the NDC gubernatorial candidate, members of the campaign team and other stakeholders, including Evangelist Ekekwe John.
The team also visited Ugwueke in Alayi, where it was hosted by Chief Chris Igboko, popularly known as “The Boy Is Good,” as a special guest at the Women’s August Meeting.
At another Ugwueke August Meeting, the consultation team had cordial interactions with political stakeholders, including Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, Chairman of the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, alongside their respective teams.
The engagements were marked by interactions across political lines, as Nkole’s team continued its outreach to community groups and stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.
The consultation tour also took the team beyond the immediate communities of Abia North to Umuahia, where it attended the inauguration of the Village Boys and later visited Okwu Olokoro to honour Engr. Ubani Godswill, a friend and former classmate.
Nkole’s visit to Okwu Olokoro was in recognition of Engr. Ubani Godswill’s mother, who received a Meritorious Award during the Olokoro Women’s August Meeting.
Across the engagements, Nkole has continued to emphasise the importance of listening to the people, strengthening grassroots participation and building a representative voice for Abia North.
He has also used the consultation tour to promote the NDC and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as the party mobilises ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The series of engagements, which have brought together traditional rulers, women, youths, community leaders and political actors, underscores Nkole’s strategy of taking his senatorial consultation directly to the grassroots as the 2027 political season approaches.
