Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, and his wife, Mrs. Priscilla Chidimma Otti, on Sunday joined dignitaries from across Nigeria at the wedding of Dr. Stephanie Ebidenere Diri, daughter of Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, in Yenagoa.

The Governor chaired the wedding reception following the church service at the Royal House of Grace International Church, Greenland Paris, Yenagoa, where Stephanie was joined in holy matrimony with Mr. Ballad Tamaradoubra.

Governor Otti, who congratulated the newlyweds, urged them to build their marriage on mutual understanding, commitment and the ability to resolve disagreements privately.

Drawing from the biblical injunction that a man shall leave his father and mother, be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh, the Abia Governor said the couple had entered a new phase of life that required wisdom and responsibility.

“Today, both of you are leaving your immediate families to make a new family, and our prayer is that this union will be successful,” Governor Otti said.

He acknowledged that disagreements were inevitable in marriage but advised the couple against exposing their marital disputes to relatives, friends or other third parties, stressing that such interventions could be influenced by personal biases.

Governor Otti further urged the couple to understand and fulfil their respective responsibilities while praying for God’s blessings, including children and the wisdom and resources required to raise them successfully.

The officiating minister and Founder/General Overseer of the Royal House of Grace International Church, Apostle Zilly Aggrey, commended Governor Otti for what he described as significant development strides in Abia State, particularly in road infrastructure.

Apostle Aggrey highlighted the ongoing transformation of major roads across the state, noting that improved road connectivity had eased movement between Rivers State, Aba, Akwa Ibom State and other parts of the South-East.

He also acknowledged Governor Otti’s role in honouring the late Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai with a befitting state burial and immortalising the renowned cleric through the naming of the reconstructed and dualised Umuahia-Tower to Onu-Imo Federal Road after him.

The wedding attracted several prominent personalities, including Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara; Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo; Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; former First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan; and Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, among others.

Governor Otti was accompanied by the Secretary to the Abia State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, and the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna, SAN.
