The National Youth Alliance, NYA,  a gathering of awakened youths who understands the need to take responsibility in the task of steering Nigeria to the path of progress, development, and emancipation with fresh ideas has called for urgent action on the need to rid the civil service of old and underperforming workers who are long overdue for retirement, arguing that this will create job for the youths who graduate without work as their space remains occupied by their grandparents.

This was said in a strong statement signed by Ambassador Bin Abbas, the President of NYA, and sent to OHAFIATV News on Thursday.

The group is a collection of young Nigerians and is unrelated to any political party or candidate. It’s a group concept from young, enraged Nigerians from the APC, PDP, Labour Party, NNPP, and other parties.

“The youth must grasp the baton, for they are the backbone of our nation. It is disheartening to witness the stagnation in the civil service sector, where elderly individuals refuse to retire, instead choosing to falsify their ages to prolong their tenure.

“This refusal to step down renders the system inert, leaving our youth stranded and unemployed upon graduation. It is ironic that these same elders, who cling to their positions, then blame the government for the high rates of unemployment among the youth.

“The responsibility of passing the baton falls squarely on the shoulders of our parents, who occupy positions meant for the younger generation. Nigeria boasts a vast reservoir of vibrant and capable youth who possess the potential to drive the economy to unprecedented heights.

*However, their opportunities are stifled by the reluctance of our forefathers to relinquish their hold on government positions. I implore the government to reassess the composition of the public sector and create avenues for our intelligent youth to participate in economic activities, rather than languishing idly on the streets.
