Ambassador Dr. Osita Offor “De Ultimate Commander” (Ikenga Gburugburu of Ohafia Ancient Kingdom), has commended the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for initiating the process that would culminate in the establishment of the proposed Obeaku Seaport in Ukwa East Local Government Area.

Reacting to the announcement of a feasibility study for the strategic maritime project in partnership with China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), Ambassador Offor described the move as a bold, transformative and forward-thinking initiative that reflects Governor Otti’s unwavering commitment to repositioning Abia as a major economic hub in Nigeria and West Africa.

According to him, the proposed seaport is not just an infrastructure project but a clear demonstration of visionary leadership aimed at unlocking the enormous economic potential of the state, creating jobs for thousands of Abians, attracting foreign investments and boosting industrial activities across the South-East region.

“The decision by Governor Alex Otti to pursue the Obeaku Seaport project further confirms what many of us have consistently maintained — that Abia is blessed with a leader who is thinking beyond the present and laying a solid foundation for future generations,” Ambassador Offor stated.

He noted that when successfully delivered, the seaport would significantly enhance trade and commerce, reduce logistics costs for manufacturers, strengthen Aba’s position as Nigeria’s foremost indigenous industrial city and provide alternative access to international markets.

The renowned philanthropist and entrepreneur further praised Governor Otti’s developmental blueprint, describing it as unprecedented in the history of the state.

“In less than four years, Governor Otti has continued to demonstrate exceptional leadership through strategic investments in roads, healthcare, education, security and economic infrastructure. The proposed seaport is another landmark initiative that underscores his determination to transform Abia into a gateway economy and a destination of choice for investors.”

Ambassador Offor urged Abians, irrespective of political affiliations, to support the governor’s development agenda, stressing that sustainable development thrives when government enjoys the cooperation and goodwill of the people.
