Women leaders drawn from the six Local Government Areas of Abia Central Senatorial District have commenced a grassroots mobilisation drive for the re-election of Governor Alex Otti in the 2027 elections.
The women defied a heavy downpour to attend the inaugural familiarisation meeting of the OTTIMANIA Women Movement, held at the Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Headquarters.
The meeting was presided over by Lady Nkechi Chibueze, Supervisor for Health, Environment and Women Affairs in Isiala Ngwa North, who welcomed the participants and outlined the movement’s role as a Labour Party support group for Governor Otti and other LP candidates ahead of the 2027 polls.
Lady Chibueze highlighted what she described as key areas of the Otti administration’s record, including road rehabilitation, payment of workers’ and pensioners’ entitlements, improvements in schools and healthcare facilities, as well as activities in markets across the state.
She also acknowledged the contributions of the First Lady, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, particularly in programmes targeted at empowering women in Abia.
The women leaders were introduced to the President of OTTIMANIA Legacy Movement Worldwide, Ambassador Dr Osita Offor, the Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, PhD, the State Woman Leader and other stakeholders involved in the movement.
Lady Chibueze outlined four key mandates for the women’s structure: Engage, Mobilise, Protect and Project — engaging women with information on the administration’s achievements, mobilising at the grassroots through door-to-door and market-to-market outreach, defending documented achievements, and projecting what the movement describes as the “New Abia” story.
The participants subsequently pledged to take the mobilisation to wards and polling units across Abia Central, with chants of “Otti Or Nothing” and “OTTIMANIA — Movement, Movement — OTTIMANIA” renting the air.
The meeting marked the beginning of the women’s grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 political season, with the leadership promising sustained mobilisation across the six LGAs of Abia Central.
