The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognized former Senate President David Mark as the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), along with Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary. This recognition follows an internal restructuring of the party, aimed at repositioning it ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Key Members of the ADC Leadership:
- National Chairman: David Mark
- National Secretary: Rauf Aregbesola
- National Treasurer: Ibrahim Mani
- National Financial Secretary: Akibu Dalhatu
- National Legal Adviser: Oserheimen Osunbor, former Edo State Governor
The opposition coalition, which adopted the ADC as its platform on July 2, 2025, aims to contest the presidential and other elections in 2027. The coalition’s mission is to “Rescue Nigeria, Rebuild Nigeria, and Return power to the people,” as stated by Mark. Prominent members of the coalition include:
- Atiku Abubakar, 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party
- Peter Obi, 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party
- Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State
- Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State
However, not everyone is supportive of the coalition. Dumebi Kachikwu, the 2023 presidential candidate of the ADC, has described the coalition members as “enemies of Nigeria” who are determined to drag the nation backward. He criticized the recycling of leaders who have brought Nigeria to its current state.
The coalition has vowed to defeat President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election, but Tinubu has dismissed the move, describing the coalition members as “internally displaced politicians”.
